Richland Bank welcomes new president Chris Hiner President

March 28, 2016

John Brown selected to lead Security National Bank in Springfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD, Ohio – Richland Bank has appointed Chris Hiner to lead the bank, as its current President John Brown prepares to take the helm of Security National Bank, another Park National community bank division. According to Richland Bank Board Chairman Tim Lehman, Hiner’s expertise in retail lending and banking, combined with his strong experience in community involvement and leadership, position him well to join the Richland Bank organization and continue the bank’s successful momentum in Richland County. Originally from Orrville, Ohio, Hiner has most recently served as vice president at Park National Bank, based in Newark, Ohio.

“Thank you for the opportunity the past five years to work with the finest group of bankers and customers in North Central Ohio. If you are half as supportive of Chris as you were of me when I arrived, he will find success in his new role as president of Richland Bank,” Brown said. “Chris understands the culture that has resulted in Richland Bank being recognized as the best community bank in Richland County. It is a belief in the importance of local decision-making and a promise to serve our customers and our communities. Richland Bank’s commitment to this culture will be enhanced under Chris’ leadership.”

Since joining Park National in 2006, Hiner gained experience and earned leadership roles in many facets of personal banking, including branch management, consumer lending, and mortgage lending. As a vice president, he is a regional manager and lender with responsibility for five branch offices in Licking and Franklin counties.

“I take pride in being accessible and responsible to my customers and community. I look forward to supporting the reputation Richland Bank has earned for service excellence and reliable community banking,” Hiner said. “The Mansfield area is very similar to my hometown, so I am excited to bring my family here. I am eager to learn more about Richland County and find opportunities to get involved and be helpful right away.”

Hiner graduated cum laude and earned a bachelor’s degree in business and geology from Muskingum University. He is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, and the Ohio Bankers League School of Consumer Lending Essentials and Branch Manager Certification. His recent community leadership includes serving as immediate past president for the American Red Cross of East & South Central Ohio, board president for the Licking County Aging Program, education committee member for the Licking Memorial Hospital Development Council, campaign cabinet member for the United Way of Licking County, and board member for the Buckeye Valley Building Industry Association.

Hiner has also served as a member of the Newark High School Graduation Rate and Community Capitalism Newark committees and as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking & Perry counties. Hiner and his wife Amy will reside in Richland County with their daughter, Maeley.

The Park National organization consists of 11 highly successful community banks, including Richland Bank and Security National Bank (headquartered in Springfield, Ohio). Each banking division is led by its own local president, local leadership team, and local advisory board. Brown is joining Security National Bank in an opportunity to lead a larger community bank when Security’s president retires after 40 years of outstanding service to the bank.

Established in 1898, Richland Bank is the top community bank in Richland County and has 12 full-service banking offices there.
